SAMARAHAN: Seekor buaya yang dikatakan membaham imam Kampung Roban, Kota Samarahan, beberapa hari lalu, menjadi tumpuan sekumpulan penduduk kampung yang membelah perut dan melapah reptilia itu, semalam.

Dalam kejadian Sabtu lalu, mangsa, Sidi Samad, 66, dibaham buaya ketika menjala udang bersendirian dengan menaiki perahu di Sungai Samarahan, kira-kira 25 meter dari rumahnya, pada jam 6.40 pagi.

Buaya yang dianggarkan sepanjang hampir enam meter itu dikatakan membaham bahagian pinggang mangsa.

Kehilangan Sidi hanya disedari isterinya Dayang Salha Awang Sharul, 64, selepas suaminya tidak pulang ke rumah kira-kira jam 10 pagi, hari kejadian.

Beberapa penduduk yang berada di tempat kejadian, turut melihat mangsa bergelut sebelum dilambung dan dihempas tiga kali oleh reptilia ganas yang kemudian menghilangkan diri di tengah-tengah sungai.

Difahamkan, beberapa penduduk kampung dilihat turun ke sungai menaiki bot dan turut membawa senapang patah, manakala ada yang melaungkan azan di tengah sungai sambil menurunkan mata kail besar yang kemudian dihanyutkan. Beberapa ahli keluarga mangsa turut membaca surah Yassin berdekatan lokasi kejadian.

Isnin lalu, selepas operasi mencari sebahagian lagi anggota badan milik mangsa serangan buaya, Sidi Samad, 66, di Sungai Samarahan, dekat Kampung Reban, di sini sejak Isnin lalu, gagal menemui sebarang petunjuk, seorang bomoh buaya terkenal di Simunjan di bahagian ini, menawar diri untuk membantu keluarga mangsa ‘mendapatkan semula’ anggota berkenaan.

Bomoh berkenaan, Chik Lebai Inu, 80, dikatakan berpengalaman dalam bidang berkenaan dan pernah menangkap beberapa buaya yang mengganas sebelum ini.

Ia termasuk menangkap buaya yang membaham seorang kanak-kanak berusia 11 tahun dari rumah Panjang Benat, Simunjan pada 2002 dan kejayaan itu berjaya mendapat liputan meluas media tempatan dan luar negara. -BH



Crocodile’s victim body found

KUCHING – The mutilated body of Haji Sidi Samat was found this morning near to the river bank where the crocodile was sighted yesterday.

Sidi’s remains were only his stomach and part of the left arm dangling from his remains. His head, right arm, body from his lower waist including his legs were gone.

Sarawak Forestry Corporation personnel who were joining in the search with the Fire and Rescue Services, RELA, Police and 991 found the remains.

The SFC personnel which did not have boats were about to go out to do the search at 8.45 am today when they spotted something floating near the river banks.

One of Sidi’s sons went to the remains and towed back the remains. Prayers were held and the remains were buried immediately in the Muslim cemetery.

Sidi had gone prawn fishing yesterday morning, a daily routine hobby for him.
His wife and children were concerned when he failed to return. His wife, Hajah Dayang Sara and son, Mahathir went to the river bank and the son saw a crocodile with a human clutched in its jaws.

About 10 boats combed Tg. Samarahan looking for the missing yesterday.
Sidi left behind his wife and four sons and two daughters.

Crocodile, according to villagers were constantly sighted in the kampong. -sarawakupdate
